“Sunlight on Painted Fluorescents with Other Canvases”, Formulas Group 1, 4 elements 21.75 x 27 in. each. Overall 46 x 56.5 in. David Haxton, 2023

The Photographs: The first photographs were made from leftover materials used in the films. Most of these materials were lights and seamless paper. The cuts and arrangements of the materials are a record of the activities in the space. The purpose of these activities is to describe the space while interacting with the lights that are illuminating the materials. The making of the photograph starts with an unlit set. The resulting photograph is carved, with light, out of this darkness.

The Films: The performer’s task is to describe a space while maintaining the awareness of the resulting projection of the film. Light is controlled to facilitate this objective.
